Pyskool

A remake of
Skool Daze and Back to Skool

Hands up

Please Sir I cannot tell a lie . . I need to pee

Unless I’m hugely mistaken, the graphics on the left - which were extracted from a memory snapshot of Skool Daze - were never used in the original Skool games. We can only wonder what Dave Reidy might have had in mind for these sprites. Maybe the Swot was supposed to raise his hand before answering the teacher’s questions, or the Bully or the Tearaway would ask if they could go to the toilet (which facility did not exist in Skool Daze - suspicious!). If you have any ideas, please share!

Documentation

BOY WANDER writes the truth

Words. Explanations. Instructions. Textual elucidations generally. Love them or hate them, most software is unusable without them, and Pyskool is no exception. Right now I’m preparing some documentation for the initial very-very-very-alpha release so that recipients of it can at least (a) install Pyskool, (b) run Pyskool, and hopefully (c) start mucking about with Pyskool.

Yawn.

History in the Map Room?

Welcome back. Now, in the Skool Daze screenshot in this post, Mr Creak is conducting a history lesson in the Map Room of all places. Tut!

Of course, I could have just hacked the originals and taken screenshots of them. Or Gimped some screenshots of the unhacked originals. At this point I’ll just have to ask you to take a leap of faith.

Anyway, what remains to be done in Pyskool? Stay tuned for the details. I’m also trying to figure out how I can make an initial public release of the code so people can play with it. I don’t think Wordpress will let me distribute tarballs from this site…
